Maple Ridge Truck Chase

This morning on my commute to work, I hear about a crazy dude in a 10 ton truck being chased by the Maple Ridge Police. The chase goes on for 40 minutes as he terrorizes the neighbourhood. For whatever reason he keeps doubling back over the same stretch of Lougheed Highway. When he finally runs out of steam he runs out and is nailed by an unmarked police car. Rolling head-over-heals on to the hood and being launched onto the road, he crumples to the ground and still tries to make a bit of a run for it. But, he’s hit hard enough to and surrounded by police. Point for the Maple Ridge Police! FTW!

iLost my iPod

Lost: iPod Nano 2Gb 2nd Gen Nano.

So this Sunday I was shopping Metrotown with Lina and her nephew Tyson when I lost my iPod. I don’t know exactly how or when, but what I do know is that went AWOL at Metro. As usual, we were listening to Maroon 5 in the car–Tyson’s favourite band–in the car, so I know that it was still in my possession. We did our round of shopping, headed back to the car and took off to get my car washed. I thought it might be a fun experience going through the car wash with Tyson. Again, he wanted to listen to Maroon 5 but the iPod was nowhere to be found. Looked in my bag, Lina’s bag, in all the compartments and under the seats. Nothing.

After the car wash, which took a while because it was busy, we headed back to Metrotown to see if maybe it was dropped by the parking stall we were in. Nothing. At this point I had given up on the iPod and decided to go back to Lina’s Mum’s so we could grab her stuff and drop her off at the ferry. Well on the drive home Tyson said that he was very sad. I asked him why and he said “because uncle Ryoh lost his iPod.” His one comment cheered me up for the rest of the day. This guy sure knows how to make me smile. Too cute.

Anyway, I’m still a little saddened by the loss of my iPod as it was just shy of 6 months old. Oh well. I guess it’s my fault for not paying enough attention.

Stung

Yesterday, while I was enjoying the nice weather and BBQ at Lina’s parents place, I was attacked. With food in hand, I took a seat on a stool while making faces at her nephew. I lean back…and wham! I got hit. I had a moment to think, “wow that hurt. What was that? Did I get stung?” Then it started to “burn” in the lower back–really bad. I looked around and sure enough, on the ground, the little sucker was crawling with the last of his life. I took satisfaction in the fact the it cost him more than it hurt me.

Fortunately, the pain subsided in a couple of hours but I’m still reminded of it every time that I lean back in a chair.

Dings On My New Car!!!!!!

So I’ve had my new Honda Fit since the end of February, but I already have 2 dings on my car. The first ding I received in the first 2 weeks of owning the car. I was pretty pissed off when I found it. The stupid ding is just under the rear quarter window on the driver side. Naturally, I walk past it every time I get into my car. Each and every time I am still saddened by the little sucker.

Now imagine my shock and anger when I found a new ding washing my car today!!!! I was cleaning my rear bumper when I noticed. I guess that it wouldn’t be that noticeable if it was just a little bolt mark from the license plate holder, but it’s not. It’s a rough and chipped. The fabric from my washcloth was getting caught on it and that’s how I noticed.

Why me? I even try to avoid the areas in a parking lot with high traffic and lots of cars. Excuse me while I cry. I wonder how much it’ll cost to have that part of my bumper painted.

Woe is me…
