Fall Storm

I’m not a heavy sleeper, so this morning I was woken up by the sound of rain pelting against the window. And, because the window is inset slightly from the rest of the building, I knew the window wind was blowing hard. Which presents with a slight problem…I’m on the island. I just checked the Ferry cancellations and the 11am sailings have been cancelled. I was planning to take the 7pm ferry back to Vancouver tonight, but I’ll have to check how sailings are going and go there early.

I wonder if I’ll make it to work tomorrow…

Birthday & Christmas Wishlist

As my dreaded birthday approaches, people ask me (or Lina) what I want. The problem is that I never remember or can think of anything on the spot. So, I’ve decided that I will put it up on the wishlist page on my blog (navigation bar). In addition, I will also have Lina’s wishlist there as well.

Comics

1 page comic

It’s been a few months since my Mac switch and I haven’t really found out all it can do yet. So, I decided to browse through my application folder to see what’s there. And found this. I was immediately attracted by the fun icon and with a name like Comic life, how can you resist clicking. Well, it seems like Apple likes to put some fun-to-use programs on its systems and here I am creating my 1st comic: a single page layout. I made this up in less than five minutes and was able to upload it to flickr then my blog. All in less than 20 minutes. Too cool

Tina and Gils

The fake Tina’s show was great. She had the mannerisms and facial expressions done well. The MacPherson Theatre was a great venue for this–very small and intimate. And here’s Gils (the number one Tina fan amongst my friends) taking a picture with her.

Wii Knock-off

Wii vs. Vii

We should really give credit where credit is due, and give props to China. They are not shamed to ride the wave of someone else’s success and “reverse engineer” a product. I wonder what the games will be like. Check out Engadgets article here.

Tina and Titanic

This weekend I’m in Victoria to take in the Titanic Exhibit at the Royal Museum in the afternoon and a Tina Turner impersonator concert in the evening. I’ve been told that both of them are really fun.

Long Weekend in Victoria

Tyson the Pizza Maker

Originally uploaded by Ryoh A

Lina and I are spending the long weekend with her mother and nephew in Victoria. So far we’ve been having a lot of fun. We’ve made a pizza, toured Chinatown, played some golf at the driving range and went to UVic to see some “human eating” bunnies (Tyson asked if they were going to eat him).

Stung

Yesterday, while I was enjoying the nice weather and BBQ at Lina’s parents place, I was attacked. With food in hand, I took a seat on a stool while making faces at her nephew. I lean back…and wham! I got hit. I had a moment to think, “wow that hurt. What was that? Did I get stung?” Then it started to “burn” in the lower back–really bad. I looked around and sure enough, on the ground, the little sucker was crawling with the last of his life. I took satisfaction in the fact the it cost him more than it hurt me.

Fortunately, the pain subsided in a couple of hours but I’m still reminded of it every time that I lean back in a chair.

Dings On My New Car!!!!!!

So I’ve had my new Honda Fit since the end of February, but I already have 2 dings on my car. The first ding I received in the first 2 weeks of owning the car. I was pretty pissed off when I found it. The stupid ding is just under the rear quarter window on the driver side. Naturally, I walk past it every time I get into my car. Each and every time I am still saddened by the little sucker.

Now imagine my shock and anger when I found a new ding washing my car today!!!! I was cleaning my rear bumper when I noticed. I guess that it wouldn’t be that noticeable if it was just a little bolt mark from the license plate holder, but it’s not. It’s a rough and chipped. The fabric from my washcloth was getting caught on it and that’s how I noticed.

Why me? I even try to avoid the areas in a parking lot with high traffic and lots of cars. Excuse me while I cry. I wonder how much it’ll cost to have that part of my bumper painted.

Woe is me…
